Renita Gibson

Class of 1982, I am the Webmaster for the Willow Run Flyers and Jets. Although I did not participate in sports when I attended WR I am proud to say I enjoy being a volunteer for WR Athletics now. It is truly a pleasure watching these young ladies and men working hard to improve their athletic abilities.

I am a proud mother of two beautiful daughters. My daughter Octavia was in the graduating class of 2007, she graduated with honors and was #6 in her class of 114. Octavia is now attending the University of Michigan. I am also a graduate of Washtenaw Community College class of 2006. I graduated with honors and was on the Dean's List.

Anthony Godin

Class of 1982, during 1982 Tony was a team member of the boys track team, helping the team to win 7 out of 8 meets. Tony also participated in swimming all four years, golf years 1, 2 and track 3, 4. Tony is currently working for Willow Run as the Technology System Specialist.

Karen Cook

Karen CookClass of 1977, currently coaching high school cross country and middle school girl's track. Karen is enjoying leading the girl's track team into 4 consecutive winning seasons. Karen has been coaching cross country and girls track for about 10 years. Karen has been working for the district for 21 yrs. She started out coaching middle school volleyball team until 2003. But like any other parent her proudest moments came when her two children graduated from Willow Run. One of her children graduated third in her class from WRHS, with a full scholarship in academic's to Central Michigan University.

Latin Davis Sr.

Latin Davis Sr.Class of 19__, currently coaching for 7th grade boy’s basketball. I can't think of a more wonderful alumnus than Coach Davis. He has been coaching boys basketball teams for many years and has brought up three sons to repeat in his steps. Now that's giving back to the community.

Latin Davis Jr.Latin Davis Jr. 19__, currently the coaching JV girl's basketball. Over the years Coach Davis coached 7th and 8th grade boy’s basketball along with his father.

Anthony Davis

Class of 19__, currently coaching Varsity girl’s basketball. Following in his father footsteps just like his brothers. Anthony has been coaching girl's basketball for some 6 or more years now at WR.

Jesse Davis

Jesse Davis19__, currently the coaching JV boy’s basketball coach. Coach Jesse coaches his team with great skill and passion. Just like his brothers, Jesse played basketball at Willow Run and was happy to be able to coach the sport he loved at the Run.

Mark A. Cook Sr.

Mark CookClass of 1990, currently assistant coaching staff for boy’s basketball. Coach Cook participated in boy’s basketball while attending WR. Has two student in the Willow Run Community Schools, one in his senior year following in his father's footsteps playing basketball. The other is attending Cheney Academy the same school Coach Cook attended as a child. Mark's son Antonio graduated from Willow Run in 2005, he also was a great basketball player at Willow Run.

Monqiue Cook

Class 1986, volunteering parent for Marching Band and Eldest son Antonio Pittman who has graduated from Willow Run and played basketball at the Run and Mark Cook Jr. 3 years on the varsity basketball team and Malique who attend Cheney Academy, also marches with the Marching Band as an honorary Drum Major.

Greg Thompson

Greg ThompsonClass of 1980, currently assistant coaching for football. Coach Thompson was one of the members of the 1980 Class B State Champions for WR Basketball. Greg has been a constant member of the booster club and one of the most supported parents in the community. Proud parent of 2 WR graduates, Tremaine (TJ) who also played basketball for the WR and Jeren (JRock) was a Drum Major during for a few years at the Run, both of Greg's sons were in the top 10% of their classes.

Rob Cannon

Class of 1983, currently Mr. Cannon teaches Mathematics at Willow Run High School and I have been told on many occasions by different students and parents he is the best math teacher. In 2005-2008, Mr. Cannon was voted Teacher of the Year. While a student at The Run Rob was on the varsity baseball in 1982, having a winning season 16 wins out of 23 under Coach Lee Bjerke.

Sara Shipley

Class of 1999, currently 8th grade girls basketball coach, Coach Shipley is an alumni who participated in girl’s basketball while attending WR.

Kendall Williams

Kendall WilliamsClass of 1997, currently high school boys track coach and middle school cross country. Coach Kendall has lead the MS boy's track to 4 consecutive undefeated winning seasons. Coach Williams was a honor student at Willow Run and participate in football and track while a student at WR.

Tony Jackson

Tony Jackson5-18-2005, Pro-Football, USA Today), Jackson is an unheralded tight end who adds value as a solid wedge buster on the special teams coverage units. Well respected by his teammates and coaches, he was one of five seniors selected to team Leadership Council for the 2004 season. Jackson earned All-Metro honors in the Detroit area as a senior at Willow Run High School. He also earned All-Conference honors as a junior and senior. He was named team captain and Offensive Player of the Year as a senior. In his final season, he had 30 receptions for 390 yards. Jackson earned All-State honors in track and field and holds the school records in the shot put and discus throw. He also lettered in basketball. Jackson redshirted in 2000 at Iowa and saw limited action in nine games the following year. He played in the first four games of the 2002 season strictly on special teams before seeing some playing time with the offensive squad. He finished that year with 10 yards on two catches. He finally received a starting nod vs. Penn State as a junior, appearing in the other twelve contests as a reserve. Jackson finished that year with five catches for 42 yards (8.4 avg.) and a touchdown. After a solid fall camp, Jackson started all year in 2004. He caught seven passes for 82 yards (11.7 avg.) and a touchdown. He also recorded five tackles on special teams. Jackson closed out his career with fourteen receptions for 134 yards (9.6 avg) and two touch-downs, adding five tackles on special teams.

Yaminah Smith

Class of 1995, Yaminah currently the athletic trainer and has been working as a trainer for some 6 years or more in this position, and a proud parent of a WRHS student .

Lee Morgan

1968, currently Lee runs the clock at boy’s basketball and girls basketball games, football and help during track meets. What can I say about Lee he contributes to the athletic program in many ways it's hard to begin to name everything he does? Lee Morgan is a very important part of this athletic program. He has contributed a lot of his time helping out at Willow Run for many years. He also participated in athletic program as a student.

Don Garret

Don GarrettClass of 1990, Assistant Freshman Coach, played basketball while attending Willow Run.

George Corley

George CorleyClass of 1988, George currently is the Assistant Coach for girl's varsity basketball. While attending Willow Run George played basketball. It has been said that George made the first 2pt field goal in the new WRHS in the westside hoop.

Von AckerClass of ---, Currently the Men's swim coach.

Others

Bryan Schroeder 1992, was our Athletic Director and Assistant Principal at the Middle School. Bryan grew up in Willow Run and continues to support the Willow Run community. Bryan was an athlete here at the Run, he participated in Football, Baseball and Swimming. Later after graduating from College Bryan returned to the Willow Run Community to give back by teaching and coaching in our community... Bryan has coached Baseball, Football and Volleyball in his years at Willow Run.

Tanya Wonnell 1992, worked as the secretary to the Athletic Director & Assistant Principal since 2002. While attending WR, Tanya was in the Student Senate and Class Council. She came back to work at WR because she live out of the area and she missed being in the area in which she grew up. Tanya says she "loves working with the kids and with the athletic program!"

Karen Butzin Class of 1982, was teaching at Willow Run for some years, but due to cuts had to move on but she left her mark on WR. Taking pictures of the students during sporting events while at the Run and even after leaving the Run. While Karen was a student she was the sports editor during her 3-4 years and did Marching Band all four years at Willow Run. Her son David recently graduated from Willow Run in 2005 top of his class. What a proud moment this most have been for Karen to watch her son graduate from Willow Run Valedictorian, some 23 years later.
